Summer is coming and it is time to back to gardening. Discover original ideas to decorate and take care of your garden by recycling plastic bottles.

Garden on the Wall  [1]

If you live in apartment with limited garden space this DIY project is for you! Create a vertical urban garden by turning plastic bottles into effective planters.  Take a bottle and laying it horizontally, cut out a section of it.  Bore a hole through each side and thread strong rope to stabilize and hang your mini-gardens.  Fill the bottle with soil and your choice of flowers.  The best thing about this idea is that you can grow a variety of plants and hang as many or as few as you wish.

Homemade Sprinkler [2]

One of the most clever and cheap upcycling garden projects is to make your own sprinkler.  This is ideal for those who have a big yard that requires regular tending.  Punch random holes in the bottle and securely attach the mouth of the bottle to your hose.  Then turn on the water, and voilà – instant sprinkler.  It’s so easy, you’ll wonder why you never thought to do it before!

Pet Pots [3]

Another great way to repurpose that plastic bottle you would otherwise discard into a useful or decorative piece is to fashion a pet pot. This garden DIY requires a little artistic skill because you will need to first cut out the shape of an animal face such as a bear or cat.  A fun family project, kids can then paint and design.  When dried, put a small potted plant inside.
